Owners of over 300,000 Honda Motor Co. vehicles still don’t have their air bags fixed, despite warnings from auto manufacturers and regulators that the Takata inflators are extremely prone to rupture and can cause injury or death.
In a statement, Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) said, “No responsible automaker should be so slow in repairing defective vehicles where there’s up to a 50% chance a driver could be killed or seriously injured if an air bag deploys.” Nelson said even though Honda already sent thousands of mailed notices since June 2016, they have yet to repair the air bag inflators inside their steering wheels.
